The Beeghly Center for P-16 Research & Development
Mission Statement

The Beeghly Center for P-16 Research and Development supports the partnerships among P-16 educators in the region served by Youngstown State University. The emphasis is upon collaborative research leading to improved practices in the P-16 classroom. Through its regrants and development programs, the Center supports such projects as:

  • Educational research and development, concerning but not limited to curriculum, development, classroom practice, and assessment;
  • Studies that focus on the integration of content and pedagogy;
  • Basic and field-based research;
  • Pilot studies needed to apply for outside funding;
  • Studies on the use of technology to improve student learning, including impact and cost studies.
The Beeghly Center for P-16 Research and Development dedicates itself to the process of sharing the success of proven research in P-16 education with the greater university community, as well as with the state, region, and national communities. The Center also identifies community needs related to education and takes concrete measures to develop strategies to meet those needs. In this way, the Center is an important instrument in Youngstown State University's goal to promote "academic excellence, foster intellectual growth and scholarship, and serve the needs of P-16 students and the community."
